Stitch At the Seaside, a printed needlepoint canvas by Orchidea — two children in sun hats sit on a sandy beach among the dunes, looking out to sea.

A little stitcher's folklore: the first seaside resorts grew up in 18th-century Britain, when sea bathing was prescribed as a health cure.

Why this canvas: it comes from Orchidea, the Polish needlework maker founded in 1985 and known for its classic tapestry designs.

Canvas includes: 100% cotton Zweigart 10-count canvas (40 holes per 10 cm) printed with the design in 20 colours, with the colour key printed on the canvas and a thread list for DMC, Anchor and Ariadna. Stitch used: half stitch. Threads, needle and frame are not included.

Match each printed colour to the thread list, then fill the canvas in half stitch, working the main shapes first and the background last.

Canvas size: 15×15 cm (5.9×5.9 in). A nostalgic piece full of summer holidays.
