Stitch Maple, a printed needlepoint canvas by Orchidea — green and golden maple leaves and winged seeds hang on a branch, framed by a thin line on a black background.

A little stitcher's folklore: maple seeds spin like tiny helicopters as they fall, carrying them away from the parent tree.

Why this canvas: you choose the thread, so you can work it in tapestry wool for a traditional look or in cotton floss for a finer finish.

Canvas includes: 100% cotton Zweigart 10-count canvas (40 holes per 10 cm) printed with the design in 13 colours, with the colour key printed on the canvas and a thread list for DMC, Anchor and Ariadna. Stitch used: half stitch. Threads, needle and frame are not included.

Match each printed colour to the thread list, then fill the canvas in half stitch, working the main shapes first and the background last.

Canvas size: 18×24 cm (7.1×9.4 in). An elegant autumn piece for a study.
