Bead Early Bird, a mini bead embroidery kit by Abris Art — a cobalt-blue bird in folk-art style sits on a curving branch, wreathed by teardrop leaves and berries in every shade of blue on a white background, like classic blue-and-white pottery. Worked with over 1,940 Preciosa Ornela Czech glass beads in 8 colours.

A little stitcher's folklore: the blue bird has long been a symbol of happiness — in European folk tales, it's the bird everyone searches for, only to find it was at home all along. Stitchers say a bluebird on the wall keeps happiness living in the house.

Why this kit: if you love folk art and blue-and-white style, this bird is elegant and calming to bead. A great first beading project for beginners, and a lovely small gift for a new home.

Kit includes: natural art canvas pre-printed with the design, over 1,940 Preciosa Ornela Czech glass beads in 8 colours, Japanese beading needles, beading thread, and instructions with a printed colour key. Frame not included.

Each bead is sewn onto its colour-marked spot on the printed canvas. Bead the bird first, then the branch, leaves and berries.

Finished size: 15×15 cm (5.9×5.9 in). Small folk-art decor for a kitchen, shelf or gallery wall.

    This was a fun first time beading project! The only issue was I ran out of thread 3/***** in. It could be because I used knots to anchor everything but I was able to use some white sewing thread to easily finish up. If you are looking to dip your toes in beading embroidery this is a good kit to try.
