Stitch Cat and Flowers, a printed needlepoint canvas by Orchidea — a tabby cat with amber eyes peeps out from lilies, petunias and dark green leaves.

A little stitcher's folklore: cats have a special organ in the roof of the mouth that lets them 'taste' scents.

Why this canvas: it comes from Orchidea, the Polish needlework maker founded in 1985 and known for its classic tapestry designs.

Canvas includes: 100% cotton Zweigart 10-count canvas (40 holes per 10 cm) printed with the design in 30 colours, with the colour key printed on the canvas and a thread list for DMC, Anchor and Ariadna. Stitch used: half stitch. Threads, needle and frame are not included.

Work half stitch over the printed colours, matching each area to the colour key, starting with the darkest shades.

Canvas size: 24×30 cm (9.4×11.8 in). A striking gift for a cat lover.
