Stitch In the Garden, a printed needlepoint canvas by Orchidea — a watering can, a plump pumpkin and red geraniums sit on a dark background, with two little robins beside them.

A little stitcher's folklore: robins often follow gardeners to snap up worms turned over by the spade.

Why this canvas: you choose the thread, so you can work it in tapestry wool for a traditional look or in cotton floss for a finer finish.

Canvas includes: 100% cotton Zweigart 10-count canvas (40 holes per 10 cm) printed with the design in 27 colours, with the colour key printed on the canvas and a thread list for DMC, Anchor and Ariadna. Stitch used: half stitch. Threads, needle and frame are not included.

Work half stitch over the printed colours, matching each area to the colour key, starting with the darkest shades.

Canvas size: 24×24 cm (9.4×9.4 in). A warm autumn piece for a kitchen.
