Stitch Butterflies, a printed needlepoint canvas by Orchidea — pale butterflies flutter among blue forget-me-nots and long green grasses.

A little stitcher's folklore: one old idea is that the word butterfly comes from the butter-yellow brimstone, often the first butterfly of spring.

Why this canvas: a reproduction of Catherine Klein's artwork printed in full colour on Zweigart canvas, so you can recreate the painting stitch by stitch in the threads of your choice.

Canvas includes: 100% cotton Zweigart 10-count canvas (40 holes per 10 cm) printed with the design in 21 colours, with the colour key printed on the canvas and a thread list for DMC, Anchor and Ariadna. Stitch used: half stitch. Threads, needle and frame are not included.

Work half stitch over the printed colours, matching each area to the colour key, starting with the darkest shades.

Canvas size: 30×40 cm (11.8×15.7 in). A delicate art piece for a bedroom.
