This pair of round felt ornaments pairs a red eight-point star layered with a white inner star and a white-and-red scalloped flower medallion with a red center, both edged in white beads and finished with sparkling sequins and silver hanging cords.

Why this kit: a crisp red-and-white Scandinavian-style palette that looks at home on a traditional tree; layered felt shapes with bead edging and sequin centers give real depth for an 11 cm ornament; all the felt, floss, beads, and filling come in the kit along with sewing instructions.

Kit includes: felt, cotton floss, Preciosa beads, sequins, a Pony needle, hollowfiber filling, and instructions. Each ornament measures about 11 cm (4.33 in) across. Made in Ukraine.

Following the instructions, the felt pieces are cut out, decorated with embroidery stitches, beads, and sequins, then joined with neat edge stitching and stuffed with the hollowfiber filling to give the finished piece its soft, rounded shape.

A festive weekend project that suits anyone decorating in classic red and white, and a pair that makes a thoughtful handmade gift or gift-topper.
