Stitch Charming Lilac, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — two little black-capped birds with sunny yellow breasts perch together on a branch among heavy clusters of purple lilac and green leaves. Worked in 24 colours of DMC stranded cotton on white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: lilac is the flower of first love and spring, and a pair of birds nesting nearby was said to bring a happy home. Stitchers say this pair is singing just for you.

Why this kit: if you love garden birds and spring flowers, this lilac scene is fresh, pretty and full of life. A lovely gift for gardeners, bird watchers and spring birthdays.

Kit includes: 14-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 24 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the birds' black caps and yellow breasts, then build up the lilac clusters from darkest to lightest purple. Finish with the leaves and branch.

Finished size: 29×38 cm (11.42×14.96 in). A fresh spring picture to frame and a lovely handmade gift.
