Stitch Bloomy Twig, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a fresh twig of pink and white apple blossom with golden centres and green leaves stands in a pale glass vase. Worked in 39 colours of DMC stranded cotton on 16-count white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: apple blossom is the flower of spring promise, and a sprig of it brought indoors was said to bring love, luck and a good harvest. Stitchers say this twig blooms all year long.

Why this kit: if you love spring flowers, this apple blossom is fresh, pretty and full of gentle colour. A lovely gift for gardeners, spring birthdays and Mother's Day.

Kit includes: 16-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 39 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the blossoms, stitching the deepest pinks first and the golden centres last. Finish with the leaves, twig and glass vase.

Finished size: 18.5×15.5 cm (7.28×6.1 in). A fresh spring picture to frame and a thoughtful handmade gift.
