Stitch Warmth in Palms, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a little badger cub with its striped black and white face and a big clawed paw is cradled in two hands drawn in fine lines. Worked in 14 colours of DMC stranded cotton on 16-count white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: the badger is a steady, loyal guardian of the woods, and a badger crossing your path was said to bring good luck. Stitchers say this cub brings a lucky, cosy home.

Why this kit: if you love woodland animals, this badger cub is charming, unusual and quick to stitch. A lovely gift for wildlife lovers, and part of RTO's Warmth in Palms series.

Kit includes: 16-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 14 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the black and white stripes of the face, then the grey fur and the paw. Finish with the fine outlines of the hands.

Finished size: 11.5×17 cm (4.53×6.69 in). A tender woodland picture to frame and a heartfelt handmade gift.
