Stitch Thirst, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a black and white kitten with bright amber eyes leans down to lap at a pool of water, sending colourful ripples spreading out in soft watercolour rings. Worked in 43 colours of DMC stranded cotton on 16-count white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: a cat washing or drinking by the water was said to bring rain and a fresh start. Stitchers say this kitten is making a wish in every ripple.

Why this kit: if you love cats and painterly designs, this kitten is full of charm, with lovely reflections to stitch. A great gift for cat owners — especially of tuxedo cats.

Kit includes: 16-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 43 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the amber eyes, nose and black fur, then the white face and whiskers. Finish with the rainbow ripples in the water.

Finished size: 21×24 cm (8.27×9.45 in). A charming kitten picture to frame and a lovely gift for cat lovers.
