Felt Snowy ermine with this Charivna Mit needle felting kit — a long, low white ermine with a sleek body, dark eyes, and a black-tipped tail curled behind it, fine whiskers extending from its muzzle.

Why this kit: the felt pieces create a soft dimensional finish; the templates and stitch guide make the project approachable; the finished ornament or hoop art is easy to display or give as a handmade gift.

Kit includes: instructions, color scheme, New Zealand Ashford wool in 2 colors, Preciosa Ornela beads (Czech Republic) in 1 color, wire, fishing line, and felting tips (2 pieces). Made in Ukraine.

Needle felting is worked by layering small tufts of wool and repeatedly poking them with a barbed felting needle, which tangles the fibers together and gradually compacts and shapes them into a firm 3D form. Work section by section — the long body, legs, and tail, reinforcing the shape with wire — following the included instructions, then set the bead eyes and add the fishing-line whiskers and black tail tip once the base shape is complete.

Finished size: 25 x 13 cm (9.84 x 5.12 in). An eye-catching 3D project and a distinctive handmade gift or collectible for a wildlife lover.

    I haven't started felting this one yet. I'm sure I will make an armature for it and tweak it a little for a more lifelike look.
