Stitch Red Currants with Butterfly, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — a pale bowl brimming with glossy red currants sits among trailing sprigs of berries and leaves, with a little white butterfly resting at the front. Based on artwork by Elena Bazanova.

A little stitcher's folklore: red currants were once hung by the kitchen window in midsummer for luck, and a butterfly visiting the fruit bowl meant jam day had come.

Why this kit: a fresh, jewel-bright still life for the kitchen, and a lovely addition to the fruit series from the same artist.

Kit includes: 18-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), Anchor 100% cotton threads in 38 colours, a needle, a symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Stitch the bowl and the berries inside it first, then the trailing sprigs and leaves, and finish with the butterfly using the symbol chart.

Finished size: 49.5×22.5 cm (19.5×8.9 in). A bright kitchen still life and a thoughtful gift for jam makers and gardeners.
