Stitch Poppy, a small counted cross stitch kit by RTO — a bright red-orange poppy with a green centre opens above jagged green leaves. Worked in 8 colours of DMC stranded cotton on 14-count white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: poppies are flowers of remembrance and of peaceful sleep, and a red poppy in the house was said to bring sweet dreams. Stitchers say this one is a quiet reminder of the people we love.

Why this kit: if you're new to cross stitch or want a quick finish, this simple poppy is ideal. A lovely small gift, and a set with RTO's Sunflower.

Kit includes: 14-count white Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in 8 colours, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the darker red petals, then the brighter orange. Finish with the green centre and leaves.

Finished size: 10×10 cm (3.94×3.94 in). A bright little flower picture to frame and a quick handmade gift.
