The canvas is attached using plastic clamping clips that are included in the kit. The horizontal bar gives the structure greater stability. Additional embroidery accessories can be attached to the frame, e.g. a lamp, a magnifying glass, an embroidery pattern, etc. Size: 40*56cm/16*22in

It does work well, and was packaged securely! \nAssembly was a little challenging - additional instructions would be helpful, and one joint was cut such that the pieces were difficult to assemble and had to be forced.
