A little stitcher's folklore: the kestrel's old country name is the windhover, for the way it hangs almost motionless in the air while it watches the grass below.
Why this kit: the design is worked in stranded cotton long stitch, so the sky, fields and feathers build up quickly in smooth bands of colour.
Kit includes: canvas, pre-sorted stranded cottons, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. A frame is not included.
Follow the stitch diagram to lay long and straight stitches in blocks of colour, then finish with the single French knot.
Finished size: 16×16 cm (6.3×6.3 in). A small, airy countryside scene for a birdwatcher or walker.
