Stitch Xmas Hare, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a hare in a turquoise jumper stands among holly and birch trees beside the words 'Hoppy Xmas'.

A little stitcher's folklore: the brown hare can reach about 45 mph, making it one of Britain's fastest land mammals.

Why this kit: based on original artwork by Karen Tye Bentley, it is a quick festive stitch that is mounted straight into the brown triple-fold card, ready to post. Lana woolly thread gives the jumper a cosy texture.

Kit includes: 14-count misty blue Zweigart Aida, pre-sorted stranded cottons, metallic silver thread, Lana woolly thread, a brown triple-fold card mount and envelope, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: full cross stitch, back stitch, a few fractionals and one French knot. The card mount frames the finished stitching, so no extra frame is needed.

Stitch the hare and holly in cross stitch from the centre, then add the fractionals, back stitch and French knot, and mount the finished piece in the card.

Finished size: 10×10 cm (3.9×3.9 in). A cheerful card for someone special.
