Stitch Xmas Fox, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a fox in a green scarf sits among holly and pale birch trees beneath 'Happy Christmas' in red.

A little stitcher's folklore: a fox curls its bushy tail, called a brush, around its face like a scarf to keep warm in winter.

Why this kit: based on original artwork by Karen Tye Bentley, it is a quick festive stitch that is mounted straight into the brown triple-fold card, ready to post.

Kit includes: 14-count misty blue Zweigart Aida, pre-sorted stranded cottons, a brown triple-fold card mount and envelope, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: full cross stitch, back stitch, Lazy Daisy and two French knots. The card mount frames the finished stitching, so no extra frame is needed.

Stitch the fox and holly in cross stitch from the centre, then add the back stitch, lazy daisies and French knots, and mount the finished piece in the card.

Finished size: 10×10 cm (3.9×3.9 in). A handmade card to keep long after Christmas.
