Bead-embroider "Spider" with this Charivna Mit beadwork kit — a spider silhouette shown here held between two fingers for scale, with a faceted black crystal body, glossy black glass bead accents, and eight fuzzy black chenille-wire legs.

Why this kit: the felt pieces create a soft dimensional finish; the templates and stitch guide make the project approachable; the finished ornament or hoop art is easy to display or give as a handmade gift.

Kit includes: instruction chart, color pattern, Preciosa beads in 9 colors (8 sizes), Crystal Art beads in 3 colors (3 sizes), felt, chenille wire, wire, a fastener, and a needle. Made in Ukraine.

Bead embroidery is worked by following the color scheme and stitching each bead onto the felt base in the indicated position and shade, building up texture and shine bead by bead; the chenille wire is shaped into the spider's eight fuzzy legs, and the finished piece is mounted onto stiff cardboard backing for structure (cardboard, embroidery thread, and glue are purchased separately). Once complete, attach the brooch pin to wear or gift.

Finished size: 6.3x6 cm (2.48x2.36 in). A fun, quick beadwork project and a playful handmade accessory, especially popular for Halloween-season gifting.
