Bead-embroider "Chameleon" with this Charivna Mit beadwork kit — a curled chameleon silhouette in green, mint, and purple beads, with a round pearl-and-black bead eye and glossy cabochon "scale" accents throughout.

Why this kit: the felt pieces create a soft dimensional finish; the templates and stitch guide make the project approachable; the finished ornament or hoop art is easy to display or give as a handmade gift.

Kit includes: instruction chart, color pattern, Preciosa beads in 10 colors (5 sizes), Crystal Art beads in 6 colors (6 sizes), gimp, felt, a fastener, and a needle. Made in Ukraine.

Bead embroidery is worked by following the color scheme and stitching each bead onto the felt base in the indicated position and shade, building up texture and shine bead by bead, with gimp trim outlining the curled silhouette; the finished piece is mounted onto stiff cardboard backing for structure (cardboard, embroidery thread, and glue are purchased separately). Once complete, attach the brooch pin to wear or gift.

Finished size: 5x5.5 cm (1.97x2.17 in). A distinctive beadwork project and a handmade accessory for a reptile or nature-motif jewelry fan.
