Felt Small chipmunk with this Charivna Mit needle felting kit — a chipmunk sitting upright with striped brown-and-cream markings down its back and face, cradling a large felted acorn against its chest, its bushy tail curled behind.

Why this kit: the felt pieces create a soft dimensional finish; the templates and stitch guide make the project approachable; the finished ornament or hoop art is easy to display or give as a handmade gift.

Kit includes: instructions, color scheme, New Zealand Ashford wool in 4 colors, Preciosa Ornela beads (Czech Republic), Madeira floss in 1 color, chenille wire, and felting and embroidery needles. Made in Ukraine.

Needle felting is worked by layering small tufts of wool and repeatedly poking them with a barbed felting needle, which tangles the fibers together and gradually compacts and shapes them into a firm 3D form. Work section by section — body, head, and tail, reinforced with chenille wire — following the included instructions, then felt in the stripes, embroider fine facial details with the Madeira floss, and set the bead eyes once the base shape is complete.

Finished size: 9.5 x 8 cm (3.74 x 3.15 in). An engaging 3D project and a charming handmade gift or collectible for a woodland-animal lover.

    Fast shipping. Instructions were hard to follow since not originally in English. Colors on pattern and wool colors were hard to match. Would have been helpful to number the picture. Very disappointed compared to another kit purchased from another Etsy store that provided real pictures and step by step instructions.
