Felt Timmy with this Charivna Mit needle felting kit — a close-up wool portrait of a tabby cat's face, its ice-blue eyes and whisker-fine highlights built up against a near-black background for dramatic contrast.

Why this canvas: the printed design gives stitchers a clear visual guide; the canvas-only format lets crafters choose their preferred thread palette; the finished project works well as decorative handmade wall art.

Kit includes: instruction chart, felt, wool (New Zealand) in 14 colors, felting needles (2 pieces), and mouline Madeira thread in 4 colors. Made in Ukraine.

Half-stitch needlepoint is worked directly on the printed canvas, following the color areas and building the design with diagonal stitches until the full motif is covered.

    The kit contains all the materials needed to complete the image pictured. The patterns and directions give good guidance with lots of latitude for creativity.

    This looks adorable and says it is a kit for beginners. I am well versed in lots of needlework but I can't understand the directions for this at all.
