Stitch Basket of Snowdrops, a printed needlepoint canvas by Orchidea — a woven basket is filled with nodding white snowdrops against a soft yellow background.

A little stitcher's folklore: snowdrops are also called Candlemas bells, as they often flower around 2 February.

Why this canvas: it comes from Orchidea, the Polish needlework maker founded in 1985 and known for its classic tapestry designs.

Canvas includes: 100% cotton Zweigart 10-count canvas (40 holes per 10 cm) printed with the design in 13 colours, with the colour key printed on the canvas and a thread list for DMC, Anchor and Ariadna. Stitch used: half stitch. Threads, needle and frame are not included.

Work half stitch over the printed colours, matching each area to the colour key, starting with the darkest shades.

Canvas size: 15×15 cm (5.9×5.9 in). A fresh late-winter piece to welcome spring.

I'm about to plant some snowdrop bulbs so it will be fun to also have some hanging on my wall all year round.
