Stitch On a Branch of Apple Tree, a printed needlepoint canvas by Orchidea — a bullfinch with a rosy breast perches on an apple branch in pink blossom.

A little stitcher's folklore: bullfinches were once chased from orchards for eating the fruit buds in spring.

Why this canvas: you choose the thread, so you can work it in tapestry wool for a traditional look or in cotton floss for a finer finish.

Canvas includes: 100% cotton Zweigart 10-count canvas (40 holes per 10 cm) printed with the design in 18 colours, with the colour key printed on the canvas and a thread list for DMC, Anchor and Ariadna. Stitch used: half stitch. Threads, needle and frame are not included.

Match each printed colour to the thread list, then fill the canvas in half stitch, working the main shapes first and the background last.

Canvas size: 15×15 cm (5.9×5.9 in). A charming bird piece for a garden lover.
