Stitch Sunflowers, a printed needlepoint canvas by Orchidea — golden sunflowers fill a blue and white patterned vase against a soft purple background.

A little stitcher's folklore: sunflower oil was first pressed on a large scale in Russia in the 1800s.

Why this canvas: it comes from Orchidea, the Polish needlework maker founded in 1985 and known for its classic tapestry designs.

Canvas includes: 100% cotton Zweigart 10-count canvas (40 holes per 10 cm) printed with the design in 20 colours, with the colour key printed on the canvas and a thread list for DMC, Anchor and Ariadna. Stitch used: half stitch. Threads, needle and frame are not included.

Work half stitch over the printed colours, matching each area to the colour key, starting with the darkest shades.

Canvas size: 40×50 cm (15.7×19.7 in). A sunny piece for a kitchen or hallway.
