Stitch Mrs Charpentier and Her Children, a printed needlepoint canvas by Orchidea — an elegant mother in black sits with her two little girls in blue dresses, the family dog lying at their feet.

A little stitcher's folklore: Renoir's Madame Charpentier and Her Children, painted in 1878, hangs in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

Why this canvas: a reproduction of Pierre-Auguste Renoir's artwork printed in full colour on Zweigart canvas, so you can recreate the painting stitch by stitch in the threads of your choice.

Canvas includes: 100% cotton Zweigart 10-count canvas (40 holes per 10 cm) printed with the design in 22 colours, with the colour key printed on the canvas and a thread list for DMC, Anchor and Ariadna. Stitch used: half stitch. Threads, needle and frame are not included.

Match each printed colour to the thread list, then fill the canvas in half stitch, working the main shapes first and the background last.

Canvas size: 50×70 cm (19.7×27.6 in). A famous masterpiece to stitch for your wall.
