Stitch Thatched Cottage in Winter, a printed needlepoint canvas by Orchidea — a wooden thatched cottage and a little bridge lie under heavy snow beside a frozen stream.

A little stitcher's folklore: thatch is a good insulator, keeping cottages warm in winter and cool in summer.

Why this canvas: you choose the thread, so you can work it in tapestry wool for a traditional look or in cotton floss for a finer finish.

Canvas includes: 100% cotton Zweigart 10-count canvas (40 holes per 10 cm) printed with the design in 12 colours, with the colour key printed on the canvas and a thread list for DMC, Anchor and Ariadna. Stitch used: half stitch. Threads, needle and frame are not included.

Match each printed colour to the thread list, then fill the canvas in half stitch, working the main shapes first and the background last.

Canvas size: 15×15 cm (5.9×5.9 in). A quiet winter scene for the festive season.
