Stitch Four Seasons Winter, a printed needlepoint canvas by Orchidea — a white cottage covered in snow sits behind a wooden fence under a pink and gold sunset.

A little stitcher's folklore: 'red sky at night, shepherd's delight' is an old saying, as a red sunset often means fair weather ahead.

Why this canvas: it comes from Orchidea, the Polish needlework maker founded in 1985 and known for its classic tapestry designs.

Canvas includes: 100% cotton Zweigart 10-count canvas (40 holes per 10 cm) printed with the design in 18 colours, with the colour key printed on the canvas and a thread list for DMC, Anchor and Ariadna. Stitch used: half stitch. Threads, needle and frame are not included.

Match each printed colour to the thread list, then fill the canvas in half stitch, working the main shapes first and the background last.

Canvas size: 15×15 cm (5.9×5.9 in). One of a set of four seasonal country cottage canvases.
