Stitch Spring Irises, a printed needlepoint canvas by Orchidea — white and purple irises stand tall among green leaves on a soft pink background.

A little stitcher's folklore: the fleur-de-lis, the emblem of the French kings, is thought to be based on an iris.

Why this canvas: you choose the thread, so you can work it in tapestry wool for a traditional look or in cotton floss for a finer finish.

Canvas includes: 100% cotton Zweigart 10-count canvas (40 holes per 10 cm) printed with the design in 21 colours, with the colour key printed on the canvas and a thread list for DMC, Anchor and Ariadna. Stitch used: half stitch. Threads, needle and frame are not included.

Match each printed colour to the thread list, then fill the canvas in half stitch, working the main shapes first and the background last.

Canvas size: 18×24 cm (7.1×9.4 in). An elegant floral piece for a sunny room.
