Stitch Spring Chickens, a printed needlepoint canvas by Orchidea — hens, a proud rooster and fluffy chicks gather around a stone in a farmyard.

A little stitcher's folklore: William Baptiste Baird was an American-born painter who worked in France, known for his farmyard scenes.

Why this canvas: a reproduction of William Baptiste Baird's artwork printed in full colour on Zweigart canvas, so you can recreate the painting stitch by stitch in the threads of your choice.

Canvas includes: 100% cotton Zweigart 10-count canvas (40 holes per 10 cm) printed with the design in 29 colours, with the colour key printed on the canvas and a thread list for DMC, Anchor and Ariadna. Stitch used: half stitch. Threads, needle and frame are not included.

Match each printed colour to the thread list, then fill the canvas in half stitch, working the main shapes first and the background last.

Canvas size: 30×40 cm (11.8×15.7 in). A charming art piece for a country kitchen.
