Stitch Four Seasons Summer, a printed needlepoint canvas by Orchidea — a red-roofed cottage sits beside an apple tree full of red fruit, with wild flowers in the meadow.

A little stitcher's folklore: wassailing is an old English custom of singing to apple trees to bless the next harvest.

Why this canvas: you choose the thread, so you can work it in tapestry wool for a traditional look or in cotton floss for a finer finish.

Canvas includes: 100% cotton Zweigart 10-count canvas (40 holes per 10 cm) printed with the design in 18 colours, with the colour key printed on the canvas and a thread list for DMC, Anchor and Ariadna. Stitch used: half stitch. Threads, needle and frame are not included.

Match each printed colour to the thread list, then fill the canvas in half stitch, working the main shapes first and the background last.

Canvas size: 15×15 cm (5.9×5.9 in). One of a set of four seasonal orchard cottage canvases.
