Stitch Four Seasons Winter, a printed needlepoint canvas by Orchidea — a snowy cottage sits beside a bare tree under a dark blue sky as snow falls.

A little stitcher's folklore: the Yule log was once a great log burned through the long winter nights around the solstice.

Why this canvas: it comes from Orchidea, the Polish needlework maker founded in 1985 and known for its classic tapestry designs.

Canvas includes: 100% cotton Zweigart 10-count canvas (40 holes per 10 cm) printed with the design in 12 colours, with the colour key printed on the canvas and a thread list for DMC, Anchor and Ariadna. Stitch used: half stitch. Threads, needle and frame are not included.

Match each printed colour to the thread list, then fill the canvas in half stitch, working the main shapes first and the background last.

Canvas size: 15×15 cm (5.9×5.9 in). One of a set of four seasonal orchard cottage canvases.
