Stitch Milkmaid, a printed needlepoint canvas by Orchidea — a maid in a yellow bodice and blue apron pours milk from a jug by a sunlit window.

A little stitcher's folklore: Vermeer's Milkmaid, painted around 1658, is one of the treasures of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.

Why this canvas: a reproduction of Johannes Vermeer's artwork printed in full colour on Zweigart canvas, so you can recreate the painting stitch by stitch in the threads of your choice.

Canvas includes: 100% cotton Zweigart 10-count canvas (40 holes per 10 cm) printed with the design in 31 colours, with the colour key printed on the canvas and a thread list for DMC, Anchor and Ariadna. Stitch used: half stitch. Threads, needle and frame are not included.

Match each printed colour to the thread list, then fill the canvas in half stitch, working the main shapes first and the background last.

Canvas size: 40×50 cm (15.7×19.7 in). A famous masterpiece to stitch for your wall.

    This is a lovely needlepoint design. High quality canvas, and coloring nicely detailed. Another project I can't wait to begin. I like to do my needlepoint on a frame so I will use a 19" x 22" for this one. It arrived quickly and packaging was protective.
