Stitch Mother and Child, a printed needlepoint canvas by Orchidea — a lady in a pink bustle gown with a parasol walks with her little daughter along a garden path.

A little stitcher's folklore: the parasol was an essential accessory for Victorian ladies, who kept their skin pale.

Why this canvas: a reproduction of Charles Cres's artwork printed in full colour on Zweigart canvas, so you can recreate the painting stitch by stitch in the threads of your choice.

Canvas includes: 100% cotton Zweigart 10-count canvas (40 holes per 10 cm) printed with the design in 35 colours, with the colour key printed on the canvas and a thread list for DMC, Anchor and Ariadna. Stitch used: half stitch. Threads, needle and frame are not included.

Work half stitch over the printed colours, matching each area to the colour key, starting with the darkest shades.

Canvas size: 50×70 cm (19.7×27.6 in). An elegant piece for a bedroom.
