Stitch Surprise, a printed needlepoint canvas by Orchidea — two kittens, one ginger and one black and white, peer at a tiny snail on a wooden bench.

A little stitcher's folklore: Alfred Brunel de Neuville was a French painter of the 1800s, famous for his playful kittens.

Why this canvas: a reproduction of Alfred Brunel de Neuville's artwork printed in full colour on Zweigart canvas, so you can recreate the painting stitch by stitch in the threads of your choice.

Canvas includes: 100% cotton Zweigart 10-count canvas (40 holes per 10 cm) printed with the design in 20 colours, with the colour key printed on the canvas and a thread list for DMC, Anchor and Ariadna. Stitch used: half stitch. Threads, needle and frame are not included.

Work half stitch over the printed colours, matching each area to the colour key, starting with the darkest shades.

Canvas size: 24×30 cm (9.4×11.8 in). A charming gift for a cat lover.
