Stitch Lily, a printed needlepoint canvas by Orchidea — an orange lily with curling, spotted petals opens among green leaves on a black background.

A little stitcher's folklore: tiger lilies were grown in China and Japan for their edible bulbs.

Why this canvas: you choose the thread, so you can work it in tapestry wool for a traditional look or in cotton floss for a finer finish.

Canvas includes: 100% cotton Zweigart 10-count canvas (40 holes per 10 cm) printed with the design in 14 colours, with the colour key printed on the canvas and a thread list for DMC, Anchor and Ariadna. Stitch used: half stitch. Threads, needle and frame are not included.

Match each printed colour to the thread list, then fill the canvas in half stitch, working the main shapes first and the background last.

Canvas size: 18×24 cm (7.1×9.4 in). A bold floral piece for a modern room.
