Stitch Succulent, a printed needlepoint canvas by Orchidea — a green cactus with red flowers grows in a terracotta pot against a pale grey patterned background.

A little stitcher's folklore: a cactus stores water in its thick stem to survive long dry spells.

Why this canvas: you choose the thread, so you can work it in tapestry wool for a traditional look or in cotton floss for a finer finish.

Canvas includes: 100% cotton Zweigart 10-count canvas (40 holes per 10 cm) printed with the design, with the colour key printed on the canvas and a thread list for DMC, Anchor and Ariadna. Stitch used: half stitch. Threads, needle and frame are not included.

Match each printed colour to the thread list, then fill the canvas in half stitch, working the main shapes first and the background last.

Canvas size: 15×15 cm (5.9×5.9 in). A fun modern piece for a plant lover.

    Cactus

Finished all 3 designs and will start on the background in a few days. As you know I’ll be changing the background colors to put my own spin on them
