Stitch Pansies in a Vase, a printed needlepoint canvas by Orchidea — purple, white and yellow pansies fill a pink and turquoise vase against a striped background.

A little stitcher's folklore: Victorian gardeners held pansy shows, with prizes for the neatest, roundest blooms.

Why this canvas: it comes from Orchidea, the Polish needlework maker founded in 1985 and known for its classic tapestry designs.

Canvas includes: 100% cotton Zweigart 10-count canvas (40 holes per 10 cm) printed with the design in 25 colours, with the colour key printed on the canvas and a thread list for DMC, Anchor and Ariadna. Stitch used: half stitch. Threads, needle and frame are not included.

Match each printed colour to the thread list, then fill the canvas in half stitch, working the main shapes first and the background last.

Canvas size: 18×24 cm (7.1×9.4 in). A pretty floral piece for any room.
