Stitch Lighthouse, a printed needlepoint canvas by Orchidea — a red and white lighthouse stands on the rocks beside a little cottage under a pastel evening sky.

A little stitcher's folklore: the Pharos of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, was a lighthouse.

Why this canvas: it comes from Orchidea, the Polish needlework maker founded in 1985 and known for its classic tapestry designs.

Canvas includes: 100% cotton Zweigart 10-count canvas (40 holes per 10 cm) printed with the design in 25 colours, with the colour key printed on the canvas and a thread list for DMC, Anchor and Ariadna. Stitch used: half stitch. Threads, needle and frame are not included.

Match each printed colour to the thread list, then fill the canvas in half stitch, working the main shapes first and the background last.

Canvas size: 24×30 cm (9.4×11.8 in). A calm coastal piece for a bathroom or hallway.
