Stitch Bulldog, a first needlepoint kit from Orchidea's My First Embroidery range — a black and white French bulldog with big pink ears on an orange background.

A little stitcher's folklore: French bulldogs came from toy bulldogs taken to France by English lace workers in the 1800s.

Why this kit: a simple, colourful design printed on the canvas, made as a first stitching project for children or beginners.

Kit includes: Zweigart canvas printed with the design, Ariadna 6-strand cotton floss in 8 colours, instructions and a needle. Stitch used: half stitch. A frame is not included.

Stitch in half stitch over the printed colours, one colour at a time, and the picture appears quickly.

Finished size: 10.5×10.5 cm (4.1×4.1 in). A fun first project for a young dog lover.
