Stitch British Cat, a first needlepoint kit from Orchidea's My First Embroidery range — a grey British Shorthair cat with orange eyes on a yellow background.

A little stitcher's folklore: the British Shorthair is said to have inspired the Cheshire Cat in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

Why this kit: a simple, colourful design printed on the canvas, made as a first stitching project for children or beginners.

Kit includes: Zweigart canvas printed with the design, Ariadna 6-strand cotton floss in 9 colours, instructions and a needle. Stitch used: half stitch. A frame is not included.

Stitch in half stitch over the printed colours, one colour at a time, and the picture appears quickly.

Finished size: 10.5×10.5 cm (4.1×4.1 in). A fun first project for a young cat lover.
