Stitch Christmas Balls, a plastic canvas cross stitch kit by Orchidea — four round ornaments topped with holly show a Christmas tree, a sleeping fox, a polar bear and a gingerbread house.
A little stitcher's folklore: holly was brought indoors at midwinter long before Christianity, to keep away evil spirits.
Why this kit: stitching on white plastic canvas means no hoop and no finishing, and each piece keeps its shape, ready to hang.
Kit includes: white plastic canvas, DMC 6-strand cotton floss in 25 colours, a chart, instructions and a needle to make four ornaments. Stitch used: cross stitch. No hoop or frame is needed, as plastic canvas holds its shape.
Stitch each design on the plastic canvas, then trim around the edge and add a loop of thread for hanging.
Each ornament measures about 9.5×11.5 cm (3.7×4.5 in). Cosy decorations for the Christmas tree.
