Bead Lurking, a bead embroidery kit by Abris Art — a black cat with glowing yellow eyes peers out from behind a thicket of large silver, grey and charcoal leaves touched with gold. Worked with over 16,640 Preciosa Ornela Czech glass beads in 21 colours.

A little stitcher's folklore: in Britain, Ireland and Japan a black cat is a sign of good luck — sailors' wives kept one to bring their husbands home safely. Stitchers say a black cat watching over the house keeps bad luck far away.

Why this kit: if you love cats and moody, modern design, this is a striking statement piece — those eyes follow you across the room. A large, absorbing project for experienced beaders and ambitious beginners, and a great gift for black-cat owners.

Kit includes: natural art canvas pre-printed with the design, over 16,640 Preciosa Ornela Czech glass beads in 21 colours, a Japanese beading needle, a numbered key chart, and instructions in 8 languages. Beading thread, frame and hoop are not included.

Each bead is sewn onto its colour-marked spot on the printed canvas. Bead the cat's eyes and face first, then the leaves around it.

Finished size: 28×37 cm (11.02×14.57 in). Moody statement wall art.
