Bead Red Cardinal, a two-sided Christmas ornament kit by Abris Art — a bright red cardinal perches among holly leaves and berries on one side; on the reverse, a red poinsettia in bloom. Worked with over 536 Preciosa Ornela Czech glass beads and finished with a ribbon for hanging.

A little stitcher's folklore: there's a much-loved saying that "when cardinals appear, angels are near" — a cardinal is believed to be a visit from a loved one who has passed. Stitchers say a cardinal on the tree keeps those we miss close at Christmas.

Why this kit: if you want a meaningful ornament, this cardinal is beautiful and quick to make. Great for beginners, and a heartfelt remembrance gift or family keepsake.

Kit includes: natural art canvas pre-printed with both sides of the design, a second canvas for finishing, over 536 Preciosa Ornela Czech glass beads, a Japanese beading needle, beading thread, sealant, decorative ribbon, and instructions with a symbol key.

Bead both sides following the symbol key, then join them with the finishing canvas and sealant and add the ribbon hanger.

Finished size: about 6.6 cm (2.6 in) across. A two-sided keepsake ornament for your tree.
