Stitch Dense Forest, a counted cross-stitch kit by Abris Art — a patterned owl in violet and teal perches on a branch among tall blue trees under a glowing moon, with a meadow of little wildflowers below. Worked on 100% cotton Aida in 34 colours of floss, with glass beads.

A little stitcher's folklore: owls were the birds of Athena, goddess of wisdom, and an owl in the house was said to bring good sense and protection. Stitchers say this night owl keeps watch over the home while everyone sleeps.

Why this kit: if you love woodland designs with a folk-art feel, this owl is charming and full of pattern. It's an absorbing project for confident beginners and experienced stitchers. A lovely gift for owl collectors.

Kit includes: 100% cotton Aida canvas, a cross stitch needle, 34 colours of embroidery floss on an organizer, glass beads and a beading needle, a printed symbol chart, and instructions in 8 languages.

Counted cross stitch is worked by following the symbol chart and placing each cross on the Aida grid with the matching floss colour. Stitch the owl first, then the trees, moon and wildflowers.

Finished size: 28×43 cm (11.02×16.93 in). Woodland wall art and a thoughtful gift.
