Stitch Autumn Garden Palette, a counted cross-stitch kit by Abris Art — plump orange pumpkins sit on an old tree stump among golden and rust chrysanthemums, berry sprigs and falling autumn leaves. Worked on 100% cotton Aida in 20 colours of floss.

A little stitcher's folklore: the pumpkin is the old symbol of a good harvest and a full pantry, and a pumpkin by the door was said to welcome prosperity for the winter. Stitchers say an autumn still life keeps the home warm and well-fed.

Why this kit: if you love decorating for fall, these pumpkins are warm and cosy, and with 20 colours they're easy to finish before Thanksgiving. A comfortable project for beginners, and a lovely seasonal gift.

Kit includes: 100% cotton Aida canvas, a cross stitch needle, 20 colours of embroidery floss on an organizer, a printed symbol chart, and instructions in 8 languages.

Counted cross stitch is worked by following the symbol chart and placing each cross on the Aida grid with the matching floss colour. Stitch the pumpkins first, then the flowers, stump and leaves.

Finished size: 16×24 cm (6.3×9.45 in). Cosy fall decor for a shelf or mantel.
