Stitch Spark the Celebration, a Christmas stocking cross-stitch kit by Abris Art — Santa climbs a ladder to place a golden star on top of a decorated Christmas tree, while a cheerful snowman watches from below, all on a starry blue night. The finished stocking hangs from a red ribbon bow. Worked on white 18-count Aida in 29 colours of floss.

A little stitcher's folklore: the Christmas stocking comes from the legend of St Nicholas, who dropped gold coins down a chimney into stockings hung to dry. Stitchers say a stocking made by hand is always filled with love.

Why this kit: if you want a family heirloom, a hand-stitched stocking is one you'll hang every year. A satisfying project for confident beginners, and a treasured gift for a child's first Christmas.

Kit includes: white 18-count Aida canvas, a cross stitch needle, 89 m of embroidery floss in 29 colours, a counted cross stitch pattern, 3 mm felt, white backing fabric to seal the finished embroidery, a 100 cm red decorative ribbon, and instructions.

Stitch the design following the pattern, then seal it with the backing fabric, assemble the stocking with the felt, and add the red ribbon hanger.

Finished size: 18×27 cm (7.09×10.63 in). A handmade Christmas stocking to treasure.
