Stitch Bluebird, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — a plump little songbird with sky-blue feathers and a warm orange breast perches on a bare twig, head tilted as if about to sing. Fine shading gives the feathers a soft, painterly texture against plain white evenweave.

A little stitcher's folklore: the bluebird has long been a symbol of happiness, and an old saying goes that whoever sees one will have good news before the week is out. Stitchers like to give this one to a friend who needs a little cheer.

Why this kit: a tiny, quick project with a big smile — perfect for a mini frame, a greetings card or a first try at finer 20-count evenweave. It's small enough to finish in a few relaxed evenings.

Kit includes: 20-count white Zweigart Belana evenweave, Anchor 100% cotton threads in 16 colours, a needle, a symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Stitch the orange breast and face first, then build up the blue feathers from light to dark, and finish with the twig and the small backstitch details using the symbol chart.

Finished size: 8.5×8 cm (3.3×3.1 in). A small, happy bird for a mini frame or a card, and a sweet gift for bird lovers.

This little bluebird kit is perfect! Well packaged, everything was what I expected it to be. Works up fairly quickly. If you have old eyes like mine you'll need something to magnify it. The fabric is 20 count, and several colors are so close it is easy to lose your place. I'm almost finished, can't wait to frame and display it!
