Stitch Mouse with Fir Tree, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — a little mouse in a knitted hat, red scarf and blue coat carries a fir tree home over his shoulder, a tiny red star glinting at its tip. The design is full of cosy winter texture and sits on plain fabric for a light, modern look.

A little stitcher's folklore: an old country tale says that the mice choose the best Christmas tree in the forest before anyone else, and bring it home the night the first snow falls. Stitchers say this one is on his way right now.

Why this kit: a cute, cosy Christmas design that's quick to stitch and perfect for a small frame, a card or a festive gift. Children love it, and it looks just as lovely in a grown-up's Christmas corner.

Kit includes: 16-count Zweigart Star Aida (100% cotton), Anchor 100% cotton threads in 46 colours, a needle, a symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the mouse's face and scarf, then stitch the coat and boots, and finish with the fir tree and its star using the symbol chart. The background is left unstitched.

Finished size: 22×15 cm (8.7×5.9 in). A little Christmas picture to frame or hang every December, and a sweet handmade gift.
