Stitch Farm Shop, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — a red-brick shop with a green-and-white striped awning and a wreath on the door spills crates of corn, cabbages, apples, carrots and pumpkins onto the pavement, with a rooster on the welcome sign, two hens pecking below, a window box of flowers and an overflowing harvest cornucopia.

A little stitcher's folklore: market folk say a rooster on the sign means the shop opens at first light — and the freshest vegetables go early.

Why this kit: a cheerful shop-front design with 47 colours and a small, quick-to-finish size — a great addition to a collection of Luca-S shop fronts.

Kit includes: 16-count Zweigart Aida in white (100% cotton), Luca-S 100% cotton threads in 47 colours, 2 needles, a partially coloured chart with coloured backstitch lines and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Work one chart page at a time, starting with the produce and animals, then the shop window and awning, and finish with the brickwork and sign.

Finished size: 27×24 cm (10.6×9.6 in). A homely picture for the kitchen or pantry and a lovely gift for gardeners and farmers-market fans.
